Amelia Edwards Senior Speech Pathologist
Amelia is a Certified Practicing Speech Pathologist, with over 10 years of experience working with individuals with complex communication needs across a range of settings. In addition, Amelia has worked as a Lecturer at Flinders University in early language development and was a Clinical Educator of speech pathology students within a child care environment.
Amelia has completed both the introductory and advanced Pragmatic Organisation Dynamic Display (PODD) workshops, and is a PROMPT trained therapist. She has a keen interest in supporting children with motor speech impairment (dysarthria and/or dyspraxia) to develop their verbal speech, in conjunction with the use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems.
In 2015, Amelia completed a PhD, which explored how parents of children on the Autism spectrum make decisions about interventions for their children. Amelia also has a particular interest in inclusive education, and supporting the inclusion of students who use AAC within inclusive schooling environments, and has a Master of Inclusive Education.
When she is not working with her clients at Two Way Street, you can find Amelia reading, baking or spending time with her family. Amelia is a keen traveller – her favourite travel destination so far has been New York.
