About this course

This course is designed for group based learning. It can also be combined with a live question and answer session for your team after the presentation. Contact us for a quote.

The workshop can also be viewed as a stand alone session. It was created for educators (including teachers and teaching assistants) in special education settings who are working with students who are emergent communicators. However, the information is also relevant to parents and other team members who are interested to learn about strategies for engaging emergent communicators.

An emergent communicator is one who typically uses behaviours, gestures, facial expression or body language to interact with others or to get their needs met. The course discusses considerations for supporting their communication and gives a 5 step process that can help to guide your interactions.

Combine this course with a live Q&A session: To get the most out of this course, you can combine it with a Q&A session online with our director and the course presenter, Janelle Sampson. Share videos of your own students for discussion, or ask questions in real time. Cost $200 for 1 hour or pro-rata.
