2-Day Introductory PODD Workshop

Come along to the 2-Day Introductory PODD Workshop for a must-have foundation for PODD communication.

Pragmatic Organisation Dynamic Display (PODD) is a complete communication system for individuals who cannot meet all of their communication needs with speech. PODD enables genuine, autonomous communication in all daily environments for people who use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).

Two Way Street has been helping people who use AAC, their families, friends and support networks for more than 10 years. Our highly trained Speech Pathologists work exclusively in AAC and our mission is to make our knowledge, skills and experience in AAC accessible to all.

This workshop is presented by Two Way Street Director and Certified Practicing Speech Pathologist, Janelle Sampson. Janelle has more than 30 years as a practising Speech Pathologist, is a certified PODD workshop presenter and provides training and consultation around AAC with many organisations across Australia.

During the two workshop days you’ll learn language functions, navigation of different types of PODD, effective modelling and there’s plenty of time for hands-on practice and Q&A.

Who is this workshop for:

• Speech pathologists, OT’s, physios and other Allied Health professionals working with children and adults with communication disability
• Teachers and support staff in mainstream and special settings who have students using PODD in their class
• Parents, family, friends and support workers who would like a more in depth understanding of their person’s PODD communication system

We’ll cover:

• Practical and creative solutions to enable PODD communication, demonstrated through videos and case studies
• The opportunity for hands-on supported practice using supplied PODD communication books (no need to bring your own!)
• Communication system challenges and features around vocabulary organisation, layout, design, range of access strategies and customising for individual requirements
• Teaching and learning strategies and support for the implementation of PODD communication systems with individuals and team members

A comprehensive introduction to PODD communication that will answer many of your questions about specific communication needs.

NOTE: Completion of this workshop is a prerequisite for extended training in PODD communication, such as the 1-Day Alternative Access PODD workshop
