Margie wears many hats at Two Way Street – working across our business operations, clinical services and as a consultant and trainer for communication access.
Margie worked as a systemic advocate for 25 years and was the Convenor of Women With Disabilities South Australia for 10 years. During this time, Margie focused much of her attention on educating and advocating for the elimination of violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation against girls and women with disabilities. She was also greatly involved with the South Australian Disability Justice Plan. Much of Margie’s work has been performed at State, National and International level. A career highlight would be when she spoke at the United Nations in 2014 at the Commission of the Status of Women.
Margie has a strong sense of social justice, in particular for people with communication disability. It was during her work on the South Australian Disability Justice Plan where Margie honed her attention to the need for people with communication disability to have equal and adequate access to justice.
As well as a love for travel, Margie loves watching amateur theatre, live sport and enjoying a good red with friends. At home, Margie is a slave to her current four pawed boss cat “Charlie”.
