Kate Munro Senior Speech Pathologist
Kate is a Certified Practicing Speech Pathologist and has worked as a speech pathologist in South Australia since 2012. She is passionate about the world of AAC, with this passion developing during her university days. In addition to the wonderful contributions she makes to Two Way Street, Kate has been a tutor and casual lecturer for Flinders University’s Disability and Social Inclusion subject on the topic of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and is a Clinical Educator of Speech Pathology students.
Kate has completed both the introductory and advanced Pragmatic Organisation Dynamic Display (PODD) workshops, and is a PROMPT certified therapist. She has a variety of special interests within her work here at Two Way Street, but is particularly interested in working with adults who have acquired conditions or injuries and would benefit from using AAC. Alongside other Two Way Street members, she understands the impact that communication can have on mental health and strives to help her clients navigate difficult conversations and topics. She has recently become involved with assisting people with communication difficulties access the justice system.
After hours, Kate enjoys relaxing in her backyard (martini in hand) with her wife, two dogs, and cat. Kate has a passion for gardening and you will often find her cooking up something delicious using produce from her veggie patch. While she loves her home, she also enjoys traveling within Australia and abroad. Her ideal Australian journey includes a camper trailer, hiking boots, and a campfire. Internationally, she hopes to visit South Korea and learn how to make banchan.
